So yeah, in 2015 we kind of took a step back. We had big changes in our family with the addition of a new baby girl and all of our focus went into taking care of her and being a family. So the Love & Vandalizm brand kind of got put on the shelf. But, taking the break from the brand allowed us to step back and really think about the future of Love & Vandalizm, and re-evaluate the direction we want to take the brand.
When we started Love & Vandalizm as a brand, we wanted it to be first and foremost about our art and creative vision. Love & Vandalizm is a brand that makes T-shirts, but we don’t want to be categorized or labeled as a t-shirt or clothing brand. Because, Love & Vandalizm, to us, is an art brand and what that means to us is that we create art first, T-shirts is just one of the mediums we use. When we made our first T-shirts, we got caught up in the ideal of being this big business that sold thousands and thousands of shirts nationwide in major retail outlets. However, we slowly started realizing, we do our best work when our main focus is the art. By trying to be something we are not, and focusing on selling instead of making art, it stifled our creativity and brought us down. We still believe we can do big things, but after trying to run the brand, and seeing the way the “business” side of things work, doing research and seeing how flooded the market is with thousands of people trying to start a “ clothing line” with stale, predictable, so-called trendy, copycat designs, we realized our view of how we want to approach things have changed. We don’t want Love & Vandalizm to be a business brand; we want it to be an art brand, an art brand that has moments of spontaneous creativity like graffiti. And like graffiti L&V art will be on everything… on t-shirts, on posters, on canvases, on walls, on stickers, pins, patches, hats, skateboards, bikes, jewelry etc., anything cool that can show the originality of the art we create.
So, this means, we will be dropping new Love & Vandalizm T-shirts, stickers, buttons, posters and prints, and anything else we can put artwork on, in an on-demand way. Love & Vandalizm will not follow trends and seasons, and what others do for street wear brands. Again, Love & Vandalizm’s first focus will be art. And to keep that focus, we will make everything - except the designs we feel are iconic to the brand and the designs there is a real demand for - limited quantity. The inspiration for this decision also comes from graffiti, because almost all graffiti eventually gets erased, painted over, or otherwise destroyed and is gone forever. However, we will not try to exploit the “limited edition” factor as a selling point and jack up the prices of our items, like other new brands have tried and failed to do. The point of making things Limited Edition is that will keep us on our toes, keep our creative juices flowing, and keep things fresh on the website, and give you guys new things from the brand. We will create a steady stream of Love & Vandalizm products that can help the brand grow. Again, making great pieces art the first focus.
With that being said, to commemorate the evolution of the Love & Vandalizm we will be having a clearance sale and be cutting the prices of our current line ofT-shirts by 40% and clearing out our inventory to make room for the new stuff!
Thanks for continuing to follow Love & Vandalizm. Spread Love with Art!
